The Late Mr. Brookman
The funeral of the late Mr. William Brookman, of 5, Bartholomew-terrace, Pound-street, who met his death under tragic circumstances on the railway near the bridge at Enborne on Saturday morning Feb. 11th, took place at the Old Cemetery on Thursday last.
The Rev. E.H. Stenning officiated, and the mourners were Mrs. Emily Smillie (daughter), Miss May Brookman (daughter), Mr. and Mrs. Mugford (son-in-law and daughter), Mr. and Mrs. Smith (son-in-law and daughter), Petty Officer John Smillie, H.M.Navy was unable to attend.
Others present were Mrs. O'Farrell, representing Mrs. Turk; Mr. Herbert W. Porter, of Messrs. Porter Turk and Son, Ltd.; and Mr. F.J. Tidbury of the foundry staff.
Wreaths were sent by Emily and Mabel; Rose and Sid; Julia and George; Mrs. Turk and family; Porter Turk and Sons, Ltd.; and the staff and fellow workmen of the same firm.
The coffin was inscribed: "William Brookman, died Feb. 11th, 1922, aged 70
