JOHN LOOKER

The Late Mr John Looker – A very gratifying token of respect was paid by the members of the Parish Church Choir to the late Mr John Looker, on Friday last, when the funeral of the deceased took place.  The first part of the burial service was held in the Parish Church, where Mr Looker had sung in the choir for upwards of 20years.  The Rector and the Rev.W C Parr met the funeral procession at the West door, and beginning the service proceeded to the Chancel, where the choir had assembled.  The beautiful hymn of Charles Wesley’s:

      “Let saints on earth in concert sing

         With those whose work is done, “

Was then sung.  After the lesson had been read by the Rector, the choir sang, “Now the labourer’s task is o’er.  The rest of the service, which was plain, took place
