WILLIAM JOHN WALTERS

FUNERAL OF MR. WILLIAM JOHN WALTERS

 

The funeral took place on Wednesday last of Mr. William John Walters, aged 84 years at the residence of his daughter at Earley, near Reading.

The deceased was a native of Stockcross, but left there in his younger days to follow occupations at Swindon and Derby. On his return to Newbury, he was employed for about 30 years as carter by the firm of the late Arthur J. Chivers and his father.

The funeral took place on Saturday, the service being held at the Methodist Church, Bartholomew-street, where deceased was a worshipper, the Rev. R.R. Collier officiating. The interment was at the Old Cemetery, the deceased being buried in the grave of his wife, who predeceased him 11 years ago. The mourners were his two daughters, Kate and Ada, Mr. H.O. Yates and Mr. A. White (sons-in-law), Kathleen and Dorothy (grand-daughters), Gordon (grandson), Mrs. Perry and Mr. and Mr. Read.
