Ida Louise Eaglesfield Booker

Ida was born on the 24th August 1867, in Newbury, Berkshire, the daughter of Edward and Elizabeth Cole Booker (nee Eaglesfield)

Ida died aged 3 months on the 4th November 1867. She was laid to rest in a private grave in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 8th November 1867.

Ida’s family:

Her father Edward was baptised on the 9th May 1833 in Marston Maisey, Wiltshire, the son of Edward Fletcher (a Maltster) and Margaret Booker (nee Lewis) who were married on the 23rd October 1828, in Marston Maisey, Wiltshire

Her mother Elizabeth was baptised on the 29th June 1837, in Rothwell, Northampton, the daughter of Francis (a Cotton Winder) and Ann Eaglesfield (nee Cole) who were married on the 5th January 1830 in Great Badminton, Gloucestershire. (Francis was from Sheffield, Yorkshire)

Ida’s parents married in 1861

Marriage details:

Place: St Anne, Stanley, West Derby

Date: 18th June 1861

Groom: Edward Booker, full age, bachelor, occupation, Gentleman, abode, Steventon Berkshire

Bride: Elizabeth Cole Eaglesfield, full age, spinster, abode, West Derby

Fathers: Edward Fletcher Booker, a Yeoman and Francis Eaglesfield, a Gentleman

Witnesses: Annie Cole Eaglesfield and William Cole Eaglesfield

Edward and Elizabeth also had the following children:

Lilian Maud c1863 (birth registered in Abingdon)

Edward Eaglesfield born 29th June 1869, baptised 15th January 1870, at Marston Maisey. Abode, Basingstoke, father recorded as a Corn Dealer

Mabel Beatrice baptised 5th March 1872, at St Michael, Basingstoke. Abode, Sarum Villas, father recorded as a Commercial Traveller

Walter Emerson born 1873, privately baptised 2nd September 1873 at St Michael, Basingstoke. Abode, Sarum Villas, father recorded as a Commercial Traveller

The 1871 census records Edward (38) as a Traveller (Corn Merchants), living in Sarum Villas, Basingstoke, with Elizabeth (33), Lilian (8), Edward (1) and two servants

 

In 1881 Edward (48) was recorded as a Corn and Seed Traveller, living at 61 London Road, St Giles, Reading, Berkshire, with Elizabeth (43), their children, Lilian Maud (18), Edward (11), Mabel (9), Walter (7) and a servant.

The 1891 census records Edward (58) as a Corn Merchant living at 33 Long Street, Devizes, Wiltshire, with Elizabeth (54), Lilian (28), Edward (21), a Corn Merchant, Mabel (19), Walter (17) a Corn Merchant and a servant.

In 1901 Edward (68), Elizabeth (63), Edward (28), Mabel (26) and a servant were recorded living at Eaglescroft, Roundway, Devizes, Wiltshire. Both Edwards were again recorded as Corn Merchants.

Edward died between 1901 and 1911

The 1911 census records Elizabeth (74) as a widow, living on Private Means, at 21 Richmond Terrace, Clifton, Bristol, with her son Edward (37), a Commission Agent (Corn Trade) and her daughter Mabel (35).

Elizabeth died on the 25th May 1912, in Bristol
