John Hermon
c1826-1867
John and his sister Jane were baptised in 1826 Wallingford, Berkshire, the children of John and Mary Hearmon (nee Burgis) who were married in 1814 in Wallingford.
John and Mary also had a son William baptised in 1815 Wallingford and a daughter Mary Ann, baptised on the 10th May 1818 at St Luke, Chelsea. (John was recorded as an Excise Officer, living at Manor Buildings on Mary Ann’s baptism record)
The 1841 census records John Hearmon (15) as an Apprentice Tailor, living with his parents John (50) a Tailor and Mary (45) and his sister Emily (8), in Northbrook Street, Newbury, Berkshire.
Mary Hearman died aged 48 in 1842 (death registered in Newbury)
In 1851 John Hearmon (25), a Journeyman Tailor was living with his widowed father John (58), a Tailor and Draper and his sisters Mary Ann (32), and Emily (18), a Dressmaker, at 95 Northbrook Street, Newbury.
John’s father John Hearman died aged 64 in 1855 (death registered in Newbury)
The 1861 census records John (35) as a Journeyman Tailor, lodging in Jack of Newbury Street, Newbury. (Surname recorded as Sterman on ancestry)
John Hermon died aged 41 in 1867, he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 18th July
