Only three of the five burial register books still exist as far as we know and these are held at the Berkshire Record Office.

Samuel was born in Newbury he was the son of Samuel Henry & Harriet Lait (nee Tooley) who married in Bicester Oxfordshire in 1841, Samuel was a Cooper.

The family moved to Newbury before George was born in 1848, they lived in Jack of Newbury Street until at least 1861 moving to Granger’s Yard by 1871 and Milton Court by 1881.

Samuel died in 1866 he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 13th January. (GRO records aged at death as 11 and NBI records aged at death as 10)

His mother died aged 65 in 1883 she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 3rd November.

His father died aged 74 in 1888 he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 21st July.
