Anne Crofts Appleford
1790-1865
Anne was born in Newbury, Berkshire, on the 9th May 1790, she was baptised (Presbyterian) on the 6th June 1790, the daughter of Richard and Anne Appleford (nee Crofts) who were married on the 27th February 1786, at St Nicolas Church Newbury.
Richard and Ann also had the following children baptised (Presbyterian) in Newbury:

William 28th July 1788
Emily born 14th March 1792, baptised 17th April 1792
Charlotte born 2nd March 1794, 5th August 1794
Hesther baptised 25th March 1796
Aruthur born 30th June 1797, baptised 28th May 1798
Sarah Crofts born 3rd April 1799, baptiaed 12th February 1800
Marriott born 28th April 1801, baptised 26th August 1804
Martha born 1st August 1804, baptised 26th August 1804
The 1815 census of Newbury records Ann (25) living in Union Court, on the west side of Northbrook Street, Newbury, with her father Richard (53), a Tailor, her mother Ann (55) and her siblings, Arthur (17), Sarah (16) and Martha (11)
Ann never married. In 1841 she was recorded aged 50, living in an Almshouse, in Newbury with her sister Maretta aged 35 (Marriott)
The 1851 census records Ann (60) and Marriett (49) (Marriott), living at 7, Maderia Place, Newbury, both were record as Dressmakers.
In 1861 both were again recorded living at 7, Maderia Place, Ann (70) was recorded as a Fundholder and Marrietta (59) was recorded as a Dressmaker.
Ann died aged 74 on the 23rd January 1865, she was laid to rest in a private grave in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 31st January.
Ann’s sister Marriott continued to live at 7, Maderia Place until her death in 1889, she was laid to rest with Ann on the 11th January.
