Isaac Gee

Isaac was born in Manton, Wiltshire. He was baptised on the 6^th October 1805, in Preshute, Wiltshire, the son of Abraham and Sarah Gee (nee Far(r)) who were married on the 16^th October 1796, at Ogbourne St George, Wiltshire.

Isaac’s siblings were (all baptised in Preshute):

Abraham, baptised 22^nd January 1797

John, baptised 11^th November 1798

Stephen, baptised 5^th October 1800

James, baptised 23^rd January 1803

Isaac married Mary Ann Ackland on the 20^th June 1829, at St Mary, Speen, Berkshire, both were single.

They had the following six children baptised in Cherhill, Wiltshire:

Joseph and Mary Ann, 12^th August 1832. Dad a Landlord (Joseph died aged 24, buried, 16^th July 1856, at St Mary the Virgin, Speen)

James, 31^st August 1834. Dad an Innkeeper (James died aged 32, buried in the NRC on the 15^th November)

Abraham, 24^th July 1836. Dad a Publican

and

Henry, born 1837 (died aged 11 months, buried, 9^th May 1838, at St Mary the Virgin, Speen)

Sarah, born 1839 in Newbury, Berkshire

The 1841 census records Isaac (35) as a Male Servant, living in Speen, Berkshire, with Mary (30), Joseph (8), James (6), Abraham (4) and Sarah (1).

Isaac was widowed in 1850. Mary Ann died aged 44, she was buried on the 25^th July, at St Mary the Virgin, Speen.

In 1851 Isaac (45), a Servant, was living in Pelican Tap, Speenhamland, with widower, Joseph Hale (63) an Innkeeper, and Mary Ann Tuggy (11), a Servant.

The 1861 census records Isaac (54) as a Brewer’s Labourer, living at the Bacon Arms, Speenhamland, Berkshire, with William Curtis (50), an Innkeeper, his wife Ann Curtis (46), their son Thomas (14) and Maria New (19), a House Servant.

Isaac died aged 59, in 1863, he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 12^th August.
