Leah Hamblin

Leah Hamblin

c1792-1862

 

Leah was born on the 23rd September 1792 in Speenhamland Berkshire she was baptised on the 1st November 1792 at the (Independent) Lower Meeting House Newbury and was the daughter of Adam & Betty Hamblin. She married Richard Hamblin in Shaw-cum-Donnington Newbury in 1813. Richard was born c1782 and was a Chimney Sweep.

Richard and Leah had the following children:

William c1837

In 1841 the family were living in the parish of St Nicolas Newbury.

Richard died aged 63 in 1844 he was buried on the 28th October at St Nicolas Newbury

In the 1851 census Leah was recorded as a Chimney Sweep living in Hamblin’s Yard Newbury. In 1861 she was recorded as a widow of a Chimney S weep, living with her son Richard and his family in Bartholomew Street Newbury.

Leah died aged 70 in 1862 she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 8th September.
