There is no burial register information available for Charles Challis.
Only three of the five burial register books still exist as far as we know and these are held at the Berkshire Record Office.
Stillborn children were not recorded in the burial register, only in the cemetery accounts.
This information is taken from the accounts ledgers of the Newbury Cemetery Company that originally ran and maintained the cemetery.

Charles Challis
c1793-1862
Charles was born in Newbury he was the son of John & Mary Challis (nee Thomas) who were married on the 6th February 1792 at St Nicolas Church Newbury.
In 1815 Charles was working as a Bricklayer, living with his widowed mother Mary (42) and his brother Thomas aged 12 in the City Newbury.
He married Amelia Whiting (born c1788 in Newbury) on the 19th February 1816 at St Nicolas Church Newbury and they had four sons, John born c1817, Henry born c1826, George born c1829 and Joseph born c1831.
In 1841 Charles was recorded as a Book Seller living in Old Newtown Road Newbury with his wife and three youngest sons.
The 1851 census records Charles & Amelia living separately, Charles was at 13 Trafalgar Place Newbury and Amelia was working as a General Servant in Stroud Green.
Amelia died aged 71 in 1859 she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 4th July.
Charles was still living at 13 Trafalgar Place in 1861 but had retired. He died aged 69 in 1862 he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 11th June.
