John wise was a Baptist at Bury's bank Chapel Greenham common. He was involved in the passive resistance revolt against paying tax.
He was a marine engineer at Plenty's Eagle on works. He started with a 7 year apprenticeship at reading iron works became at plenty's A Foreman then a draughtsman men works manager. He was a director of Newbury building society
His wife Maria died 9th of June 1922 aged 74 and he himself died aged 91, 30th of September 1932.
