David Brind

c1790-1861

 

David was born in Newbury he married Sarah Groves (born c1789 in Lambourn Berkshire) on the 8th August 1810 at St Nicolas Church Newbury.

They had at least one child, Frederick born on the 13th June 1822.

UK City and Area Directories record David at various times between 1830-1842 as a Fishing Tackle Manufacturer at North Cattle Market Bartholomew Street and also at Northbrook Street. (Not at the same time). In later years (1847-1854) he is recorded as a Hairdresser and Fishing Tackle Manufacturer at Northcroft Lane.

 The family were recorded living in Northcroft Lane Newbury in the 1815, 1841 and 1851 census.

Sarah died aged 59 in 1849 in Newbury. The 1851 census records David as a widower, aged 61, his son Frederick (28), occupation, Painter, (recorded as David) his daughter-in-law, Hannah (25) and his grandchildren, Matilda (5) and David (3 months) were recorded living with him.

 

In 1861 David was recorded living at 12 Raymond’s Almshouses Newbury his occupation was recorded as Almsman (formerly a Barber). He died aged 72 later that year and was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 28th December.

His son Frederick died aged 48 in 1870 he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 5th December
