Mary Jane Tranter
1861-1861
Mary Jane was born in Newbury she was baptised on the 21st January 1861 at St Nicolas Church Newbury the daughter of William and Mary Tranter (nee Tucker) who married in Newbury in 1844.
Her father William was born c1818 in Newbury the son of Benjamin and Martha Tranter (nee Thorne) who were married on the 23rd May 1816 at St Nicolas Church Newbury.
Her mother Mary was baptised on the 30th May 1824 in Enborne Berkshire the daughter of William and Hannah Tucker (nee Atkins) who were married on the 25th December 1800 in Coleshill Berkshire.
William and Mary also had the following children:

Martha Elizabeth 1852
Charlotte 1856
In the 1851 census the family were recorded living in Kimbers Yard Newbury, William was recorded as a Grocer’s Porter. William’s mother Martha (63) was also living with them she was recorded as a Pauper/Green Grocer.
In 1861 William was working as a Labourer and the family were living in Robeson’s Yard Newbury.
Mary Jane died aged 0 in 1861 she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 5th April
Mary’s mother died aged 40 in 1864 she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 4th October
Mary’s father remarried in 1869 in Newbury his 2nd wife was Ann Maria Giles (aka Maria)
The 1871 census records William as a Bricklayer’s Labourer living in the City Newbury with Maria (50), recorded as a Midwife and his daughter Charlotte (14).
William died aged 58 in 1877 he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 18th Sept
