Richard Cecil Bannister
1860-1861
Richard’s was baptised on the 5th April 1860 in Hereford Herefordshire the son of Edmund James and Jane Bannister (nee Everest) who were married on the 23rd April 1856 at St Andrew Cotterstock Northamptonshire.
Marriage announcement in the Hereford Journal dated 30th April 1856:
April 23 at Cotterstock near Oundle Northamptonshire, by the Rev Lingard Green, Mr Edmund J Bannister, bookseller, of Oundle, formerly of this city, to Jane, youngest daughter of the late Mr Wm Everest, Newbury, Berkshire and niece of Mr J Everest of Cotterstock
Richard’s father Edmund James was baptised on the 19th August 1832 at St Own Hereford the son of William and Mary Ann Bannister (nee James) who married on the 9th December 1830 in Holmer Hereford. He was recorded as a Bookseller/Stationer’s Apprentice (1851 census) and Printer (1856 marriage certificate).
His mother Jane was born on the 8th March 1827 in Devizes Wiltshire baptised on the 15th May 1827 in Devizes the daughter of William and Ann Everest (nee Relph) who were married on the 27th November 1810 in Kemsing Kent.
Edmund and Jane also had a daughter Mary Jane born in 1857 (birth registered in Oundle) and a son Edmund Hastings Cecil born in 1862 (birth registered St George Hanover Square)
Richard Cecil died aged 1 in 1861 (death registered in the March quarter in Newbury) he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 1st April.
His mother died aged 39 in 1867, his father died aged 37 in 1869 and his brother died aged 8 in 1870 all three deaths were registered in Hereford.
