Harry Edward Pratt

1861-1861

Harry Edward was born in Newbury he was the son of Henry and Priscilla Pratt (nee Bannister) who were married on the 18th August 1859 at St Peter Wisbech. Henry and Priscilla were both born c1835 in Wisbech Cambridgeshire.

Harry Edward died shortly after he was born he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 9th March 1861

Other known children of Henry and Priscilla were:

James Edward 1862 (died aged 85 in 1948 buried in the NRC on the 28th January)

Harry Bannister Pratt 1864 (died 1864 buried in the NRC on the 22nd June as Henry Pratt, b and d both registered as Harry Bannister Pratt)

Fanny Phoebe 1866 (died aged 91 in 1958 buried in the NRC on the 9th April)

Gertrude Alice 1868 (married Walter F Garton in 1941 died as Gertrude A Garton aged 95 in 1963 in Winchester)

Priscilla Mary 1870 (died aged 90 in 1961 buried in the NRC on the 18th January)

Kate Emma 1875 (died aged 85 in 1961 buried in the NRC on the 24th March)

Robert Charles 1878 (died aged 94 in 1973 in Winchester)

Harry’s father was recorded as a Schoolmaster (1861 and 1871), an Accountant (1881 and 1891) and a Retired Schoolmaster (1901). In 1911 he was recorded as a Collector of Corn Market Tolls and Inspector of Weights and Measures (employed by the Town Council).

The family were recorded living in Enborne Road Newbury (1861 and 1871), Cheap Street (1881), Hampden House (1891) and Ivy Cottage (1909 and (1911)

Harry’s mother died aged 68 on the 30th July 1902 she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 2nd August.

His father died on the 1st January 1922 he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 4th January.
