Only three of the five burial register books still exist as far as we know and these are held at the Berkshire Record Office.
Stillborn children were not recorded in the burial register, only in the cemetery accounts.

Diannah was born in Newbury she was baptised on the 24th February 1796 at St Nicolas Church Newbury the daughter of John and Diannah (aka Hannah) Field (nee Winter) who were married on the 26th December 1793 at St Nicolas Church Newbury.

 

John and Diannah/Hannah Field also had two other daughters baptised at St Nicolas Church Newbury, Hannah was baptised on the 5th September 1794 and Sarah (born 12th September)  baptised on the 28th October 1798.

 

Diannah’s father died (date unknown) and her mother remarried on the 7th July 1814, her 2nd husband was John Warner, a widower (born c1789 in Marlborough Wiltshire).

 

In the 1815 census of Newbury Diannah’s step-father John Warner (56), her mother Hannah/Diannah Warner (46) and her sister Sarah Field (17) were living at East Field Newbury. Diannah was not recorded in this census.

 

In 1841 John (80) and Hannah (60) were living in Bagnor near Newbury.

 

Diannah’s mother Hannah died aged 72 in 1847 she was buried on the 25th May at St Mary the Virgin Speen Berkshire.

 

Like her mother, Diannah was also known as Hannah, she married (as Hannah) her step-brother John Warner (a Sawyer) in 1816 in Reading Berkshire.

 

John and Diannah/Hannah had the following children baptised at St Nicolas Church Newbury:

 

Eliza baptised 5th September 1817 (mum recorded as Hannah)

 

Phoebe baptised 1st December 1819 (mum recorded as Hannah)

 

John baptised 10th April 1822 (mum recorded as Hannah)

 

Susanna baptised 1st August 1824 (mum recorded as Hannah)

 

Thomas baptised 11th June 1826 (mum recorded as Dianna)

 

Alfred baptised 18th May 1828 (mum recorded as Dianna)

 

Sarah born c1831

 

Sophia baptised 15th May 1833 (mum recorded as Dianna)

 

Jemima baptised 14th February 1836 (mum recorded as Dianna)

 

Elijah born c1839

 

In 1841 John (56) was recorded living in East Field Newbury with Deannah (45) and their children, John (19), a Boat Builder, Susannah (15), Thomas (15), Alfred (13), Sarah (10), Sophia (8), Jemima (5) and Elijah (2).

 

The 1851 census records John (61), Dianna (54), Sarah (20), a Dressmaker, Sophia Ann (18), Elijah (11) and John’s father John (93), a Carpenter, living in Back Lane Newbury

 

Diannah died aged 64 in 1859 she was buried in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the on the 8th July. (Name recorded as Diana in the NRC Accounts Ledger)

 

Both the 1861 and 1871 census records record John living alone in Church Almshouses Newbury.

 

He died aged 90 on the 22nd July 1878 he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 27th July.
