Funeral of Mr. T. Carter.—

The mortal remains of our young and much lamented townsman were interred in the Newbury cemetery Monday last, followed by 60 members, of the society of Oddfellows, wearing black silk scarfs, and aprons bound with black, the deceased having been surgeon to the " Jack of Newbury Lodge” by whom he was much respected. He was also surgeon to the "Friend in Need Society," about twenty of whose members also followed in the mournful procession.

An immense number of persons lined the street through which the cortege passed to the cemetery, and most of the inhabitants partially closed their houses as a token of respect. The funeral service was impressively performed by the Rev. E. Thorley, Wesleyan minister, who touchingly alluded to the shortness and uncertainty of human life, and the double bereavement the family had sustained in the loss recently the late Mr. Carter, followed so soon by the untimely removal of the son, the only hope of a widowed mother, and the younger branches the family. The lamented deceased was only 24 years of age, and was considered a very skilful and promising member of the profession.
