Elizabeth was born circa 1778 in Newbury and married John Salter. Unfortunately, at present the marriage record of John and Elizabeth has not been found so details of Elizabth’s maiden name etc are not known at present.

In the 1841 census John and Elizabeth along with sons Francis aged 20 and Henry aged 15 were living in Goldings Yard in Greenham. John was recorded a labourer, Francis a blacksmith and Henry a labourer in an iron factory.

John died in 1847 aged 69 and he was buried at St Nicolas in Newbury on 3 July 1847.

Elizabeth was still living in Goldings Yard in Greenham in the 1851 census along with her grandchildren George Rumbold aged 18, William Rumbold aged 17 and Sarah Jane Salter aged 15. Elizabeth was recorded a pauper and widow of an agricultural labourer, George a mill labourer, William an errand boy and Sarah a scholar.
