Charles King

1856-1856

Charles was born in 1856, he was baptised in February 1856, at St Nicolas Church Newbury, Berkshire, the son of Jeremiah and Sarah King (nee Bail(e)y, who were married in 1848 (marriage registered in the December quarter in Newbury)

Charles died aged 15 days old in 1856, he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 10th March.

Jeremiah and Sarah also had the following children:

John, born 1849, baptised 26th September 1849 (died aged 6 weeks in 1849, buried 3rd October, at St Nicolas, Newbury)

Hannah born in 1851 in Bradford, Wiltshire, (birth registered in the March quarter of 1851 in Newbury, died in 1851 (approximate age at death, 2 months), buried in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 3rd May.)

Henry, born 1852, baptised 27th August 1852 (died aged 3 months in 1852, buried in the NRC on the 18th October)

Jeremiah, born 1853, baptised 29th October 1853

George, born 1857, baptised 26th April 1857

The 1851 census records Jeremiah as a Sweep’s Labourer, living in Bartholomews, Newbury, Berkshire, with Sarah (30) and their daughter Hannah aged 1 month.

Jeremiah died aged 38 in 1857. He was laid to rest in unconsecrated ground in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 12th June.
