Hannah Collins

c1793-1856

Hannah was baptised on the 22nd December 1793 in Blewbury, Berkshire, the daughter of George and Susanna Knapp (nee Dandridge) who were married on the 3rd November 1793 in Blewbury, Berkshire.

Her father George was an Agricultural Labourer. He was born c1770, he died aged 48 in 1818 and was buried on the 16th December at St Michael Blewbury.

Her mother Susanna was born c1775 in Blewbury.

George and Susanna also had a son Samuel baptised in Blewbury in 1796.

Hannah married Edward Collins on the 29th July 1811 in Blewbury Berkshire. (Edward was from the parish of Cookham)

They had the following children baptised in Blewbury:

Samuel born 13th July, baptised 2nd August 1812

Edward baptised 15th May 1814

George baptised 7th June 1818

By 1824 the family had moved to Speenhamland. Hannah and Edward had the following children baptised in Speen:

Clarissa baptised 19th September 1824

Edwin baptised 4thFebruary 1827

Susanna baptised 20th September 1829

Henry baptised 14th October 1832

Letitia baptised 3rd March 1834

Alexander baptised 5th April 1835

Emmanual baptised 11th February 1838

In 1841 Hannah, Edward, a Millwright and their children Clarissa (15), Edwin (14), Susan (12), Henry (8), Alexander (6) and Emanuel (3) were living in London Road, Speen, Berkshire. (Surname recorded as Collman on Ancestry)

Edward died aged 58 in 1848 and was buried on the24th November at St Nicolas Newbury.

In 1851 Hannah and her children Alexander (16), a Millwright, Henry (18), a Millwright and Emanuel (11) were living in Old Newtown Road, Newbury.

Hannah died aged 62 in 1856, she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 27th April.
