James Cooper 1854-1855

James Cooper

1854-1855

James was born in Newbury he was the son of John and Elizabeth (aka Eliza) Cooper (nee Champ) who married in 1835 in Hampstead Norris Berkshire.

His father John was born c1812 in Hampstead Norris Berkshire

His mother Elizabeth was born c1816 in West Hendred Berkshire.

John and Elizabeth also had the following children:

Mary Ann 1844

Thomas 1847 (died aged 13 in 1861, buried in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 26th January)

Lucy 1852 (died in 1853, buried in the NRC on the 23rd March)

Emma c1857

James died in 1855, he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 5th February.

John worked as a Labourer/ Agricultural Labourer.

 The family were recorded living in Newbury, Greenham Street (1841), Robeson’s Yard (1851), Northcroft Lane (1861) and Rose and Thistle Yard (1871)

John died aged 63 in 1877 he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 28th November

In 1881 and 1891 Elizabeth was recorded as an Invalid (1881) and Charwoman (1891) living in the Rose and Thistle Yard Pembroke Road Newbury.

She died aged 78 in 1891 and was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 12th December
