Transciption: | Reading Mercury Dated 1st April 1854 SUDDEN DEATH. - An inquest was held last evening (Friday), before Joseph Bunny, Esq., borough coroner, at the Jack Inn, on view of the body of Sarah Osborne, aged 65 years. It appeared from the evidence of Mary Ann Maslin, the cook at the inn, and two other witnesses, that the deceased came into the kitchen about two o'clock that afternoon, and while there she was seized with fit, and instantly expired. Verdict: “Died by the visitation of God.” |

Sarah Osborne
c1789-1854
According to the 1851 census Sarah (unknown) was born in Newbury, Berkshire.
The 1841 census records Sarah Osborn (45) living in Northbrook Street, Newbury, Berkshire, with her husband George (50), a Cabinet Maker.
George died aged 55 in 1846, (death registered as George Edward) he was buried on the 26th June at St Nicolas Newbury (NBI records his name as Edward George)
In 1851 Sarah (60), a Stay Maker, was living at 5 Winchcombe Place, Newbury.
Sarah died aged 65 on the 31st March 1854, she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 3rd April.
