Transciption:	HENRY JOHN GODDARD THE LATE MR. HENRY JOHN GODDARD The funeral of Mr. Henry John Goddard, of 2 Ashton-road, Kings-road, Newbury, whose death occurred at Newbury Hospital on Saturday last after a short illness, took place yesterday (Wednesday) afternoon at the Old Cemetery, Newtown-road. For the past forty-five years Mr. Goddard aad been employed as a fitter at Newbury Gas Works, and was generally respected as a conscientious worker. The Rev. E.H. Stenning, vicar of St John's, conducted the service. The chief mourners were the widow, Harry (son), Maud, Ethel, Elsie and Flo (daughters), Glad and Bill (daughter and son), Fred and Wally (sons-in-law), Aunt Eliza (sister-in-law), Charlie (grandson), Mr. L.W. Thorn and workmates..... Follows a long list of those who sent flowers Newbury Weekly News 1 January 1931 Mrs. P p.52 NA15 Died 27 December 1930 aged 62 Also Eva, wife, died 22 January 1946 aged 78

JOHN GODDARD

The grave records a john Henry Goddard m to an Eva Goddard.

Eva Lambdin was b in Newbury Jun. Q 1867 (2c 233) She was married in Newbury Sep. Q (2c 375) to Henry Goddard. The kerbstone reads "Eva Goddard buried 25 January 1946, aged 78.

John Henry Goddard, died aged 62 and was buried on December 31 1930. He is shown in BMD deaths records as Henry J Goddard Dec. Q 1930 (2c 305). The NRC burial records show a John Goddard buried 31 Dec. 1930 aged 62

So it is not clear whether he used Henry or John or Harry or Jack perhaps?
