Recorder's Notes | Edward George Snr was born in Marylebone but moved around as a child as his parents, who are buried in plot ChNWW16, were in service, his father as a butler and mother as a laundress. He qualified as a dentist in 1878 and was registed in July 1879 in Mansion House St & Market Place, Newbury, where he died leaving £135. Eva was born in Brightwalton to an Agricultural labourer. She died at her daughter, Dorothy Kelly's House, 1 Hilltop, Oxford Rd, Donnington leaving c£35 000. Edward George Jnr served in WW1 as an air mechanic in the RFC, dying in the Thornhill Military Isolation Hospital, Aldershot. Sources: Ancestry records. Transciption: | SAVAGE - November 18th suddenly at Mansion House St., Newbury, Edward George Savage, beloved husband of Eva savage aged 63 "in the midst of life we are in death"
THE LATE MR. EDWARD SAVAGE Born at Acton, and trained in London, he first went to Manchester, and then to Brussels, as assistant to the late King Leopold's dental surgeon. It was in the early eighties that he came to Newbury as assistant to Mr. Gilbert Mallet (?), with whom he remained some years before setting up in practice for himself. He leaves a widow and one daughter to mourn his loss.
