William Andrews

c1850-1851

William’s birth was registered in the March quarter of 1850 in Newbury, Berkshire. He was the son of Frederick and Ann Andrews (nee Dinch) who were married on the 3rd October 1847 at St Sepulchre, Holborn, London.

William died in 1851, he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 5th November.

William’s family:

His father Frederick was born c1828 in Bucklebury, Berkshire, the son of George (a Shoemaker) and Jane Andrews (nee Lindsey) who were married on the 23rd June 1824 at St Mary Thatcham, Berkshire (both were single, George was from Midgham)

His mother Ann was baptised on the 28th November 1819 at St George, Ogbourne, Wiltshire, the daughter of Edward (a Labourer) and Hannah Dench (nee Bowsher) who were married on the 13th October 1817 at St George, Ogbourne.

William’s siblings were:

George born c1847 in London

Clara born 1853 in Greenham

Emma born 1855 in Greenham

William born 1857 in Greenham

Fred born 1859 in Greenham (died aged 6 months, buried 11th April 1860 at St Mary Greenham)

Henry born 1861 in Greenham

William’s father Frederick was recorded as a Woolen Dealer in 1847, a Grocer’s Porter in 1861, a Groom in 1871, a General Labourer in 1891 and Formerly a Domestic Groom in 1901

The family were recorded living in Greenham Mills, Greenham in 1861 and 1871. Frederick was recorded in the Reading Workhouse in 1891 and 1901 census records.

Ann Andrews died aged 70 in the Newbury Workhouse in 1901, she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 6th March.

Frederick died aged 76 in 1904 (death registered in Reading)
