Hannah Ray was baptised on the 12th January 1783 in Hursley, Hampshire, the daughter of Richard and Ann Ray (nee Dumper) who were married on the 30th November 1762 in Michelmersh, Hampshire. Richard was from Farley, Hampshire.

Hannah married Isaac Gibbons on the 29th July 1816 at St Mary Bourne, Hampshire.

They had the following children (all baptised at St Mary Bourne except Eliza):

Thomas, 13th April 1817 (Isaac recorded as a Labourer)

Richard, 26th March 1820 (Isaac recorded as a Labourer)

John, 3rd November 1822 (Isaac recorded as a Labourer)

George, 8th January 1826 (Isaac recorded as a Sawyer)

Eliza Gibbens baptised 14th February 1830 at St Nicolas Church Newbury, Berkshire (Isaac recorded as a Sawyer).

Hannah was widowed in 1837, Isaac died aged 48, he was buried on the 23rd September at St Nicolas, Newbury

In 1841 Hannah Gibbins (55) was living in East Field, Newbury Berkshire with John Gibbins (18) and Eliza Gibbins (11) (surname recorded as Gillins on ancestry)

Hannah’s daughter Eliza died aged 12 in 1842, she was buried on the 4th May, at St Mary, Greenham.

Her son John died aged 27 in 1850, he was buried on the 25th May, at St Nicolas, Newbury

The 1851 census records Hannah Gibbins (65) as the Pauper/Sawyer’s Widow, lodging in Bradley Yard, Newbury, with a Harriet Smith (64), a Labourer’s Widow and her son George Smith (24), a Corn Porter.

Hannah died in 1851 (age at death recorded as 67 on the GRO and 66 on the NBI), she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 17th May.
