Sarah Hoberough/Hoborough

According to the 1851 census Sarah (surname unknown) was born in Abingdon, Berkshire.

Sarah married William Dell (No confirmed marriage found for this couple)

They had the following two children baptised at St Nicolas Church Newbury:

 Thomas, baptised on the 31st January 1819 (Dad recorded as a Bargeman)

 Eliza, baptised on the 4th January 1823 (Dad recorded as a Bargeman)

William Dell died aged 37 in 1824, he was buried on the 31st January, at St Nicolas, Newbury

Sarah remarried on the 8th January 1834, at St Nicolas Church, Newbury. Her 2nd husband was Daniel Hoborough/Hobrrough, a widower. Witnesses, John Chubb and Ann Cook.

(Daniel was baptised in Wantage Berkshire in 1780, the son of Thomas and Jane Howborough. Daniel Holbrough’s 1st wife was a widow, Mary Bullock (nee Stephens/Stevens), they were married on the 13th November 1814, at St Peter and St Paul, Marlborough, Wiltshire, Daniel was widowed in 1829)

The 1841 census records Sarah Hoberough (55) living in Cooper’s Yard, Newbury, with Daniel Hoberough (55) a Hemp Dresser and her daughter Eliza Dell (15)

The 1851 census records Daniel (74) as a Hemp and Flack Dresser, living in Robeson Yard, Newbury, with Sarah (68) and a visitor, Thomas Robeson (5). (Thomas was Sarah’s grandson, the son of her daughter Eliza Dell who married William Henry Robeson in 1843) (Daniel and Sarah’s surname has been mistakenly recorded as Obery in this census)

Sarah Hoborough died aged 68 in 1851. She was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 5th May.

Daniel Hoborough also died in 1851 in Newbury, aged 75.
