Last Sunday evening reference was made from the pulpit by the Rev. J. Neville of the death of the deceased, who has been a devoted member and consistent member of the Primitive Methodist Church, first from Leckhampstead Thicket, his native place, and afterwards at Newbury. He had for sixty years been an acceptable local preacher in the Newbury Circuit, and also a trustee. Testimony was given to the faithful discharge of his duties in connection with the above and other offices. At the close of the sermon the hymn was sung;

“Servant of God, well done,

Rest from they loved employ;

The battle fought, the victory won,

Enter thy Master's joy.”
