Recorder's Notes | Ann Hamblin was born in Scotland (I can find no record of her maiden name), the second wife of George Hamblin, Bootmaker (own account), of Gloucester Rd. George's first wife, Mary Ann had died leaving two children in 1884. I can find no record of Ann's marriage but it must have been between 1884 & the census of 1891 when Ann appears as George's wife, living with her mother-in-law, retired tailoress Leah Hamblin. Ann died 6 years later leaving £183 to her husband. In1899 George married Sarah of Lambourn, according to the 1911 census. They lived firstly in Gloucester Rd, later moving to Akenway,18, Clifton Rd, Newbury where Sarah died. She left £410 to James Goodchild, Missionary. George & his first wife, Mary Ann, mother of his son & daughter, are buried in P(G)2. Adam & Leah Hamblin are also buried in NRC Sources: NRC Bur Recd; Ancestry records. |
