Garrett Owen O’Farrell
1916-1929
Garrett’s was born in Lambeth, in the December quarter 1916. He was the son of Peter Gerald and Edith Hannah O’Farrell (formerly Doyle, nee Hill) who were married in 1915 (marriage registered in the December quarter in Chelsea).
His father Peter Gerald was born on the 22nd July 1883 in Ballyconra, Kilkenney, Ireland, the son of Garrett (a Flour Miller) and Margaret Farrell (nee Gormley). Petr died in 1966 in Kent.
His mother Edith Hannah and her twin sister Florence Annie were born in 1890 in Newbury, Berkshire, the daughters of Robert Henry and Alice Annie Hill (nee Andrews) who were married on the in 1884 in Newbury.
Edith gave birth to a son, Douglas Vine Hill in 1911. She married Patrick Doyle in 1914 (marriage registered in the June quarter in Chelsea).
The 1921 census records Peter, aged 34 years 11 months, as a Storeman, (Irish Guards, Chelsea Barracks, London S.W.) living at 59 Crampton Road, Penge, Beckenham, Bromley, Kent, with Edith Hannah, aged 30 years 8 months, Douglas Vine Hill, aged 10 years 5 months and Garrett Owen 4 years 6 months.
Garrett died aged 12 in 1929 in Sydenham, South East Hospital for Children, his body was brought to Newbury and he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 23rd November.
