Transciption: | .....But from 1926 the name of F Perkins appears playing in the number one position. Perkins had been the first professional at Newbury district in 1923 but had been dismissed in 1924. Without any evidence of an official appointment Perkins seemed to assume the role of professional. Clinch at this time is recorded as participating in two club competitions I E a mixed foursome and in the crookham Challenge Cup playing off a handicap of three. When JH Taylor played at crookham in 1929 Perkins played in the four ball game with clinch merely caddying for Taylor. |
