William Samuel Leggett
1907-1912
William Samuel (aka Willie) was born in Ilford, Essex, the son of Willie Edward and Florence Henrietta Leggett (nee Caesar) who were married on the 25th December 1904 at St Stephen, Walworth, Southwalk. Willie was a Tailor’s Cutter.
William’s father Willie Edward as born in 1878 in St James Westminster the son of Samuel and Clara Hayward Leggett (nee Davey) who were married in 1869 (marriage registered in Stow Suffolk)
His mother Florence Henrietta was born in 1883 (birth registered in St Saviour Surrey), the daughter of William Frederick and Emma Elizabeth Caesar (nee Caesar) who were married in 1882 (marriage registered in Islington).
Willlie and Florence also had another son, James Nelson Leggett, born in 1905 in Camberwell. He was baptised on the 19th November 1905 at St George Camberwell.
William’s mother died aged 25 in 1909 (death registered in Lewisham)
The 1911 census records Willie (3) and his brother James (5) as inmates in Villa Amalinda, Burlington Lane, Chiswick, a home for motherless children.
William Samuel died aged 4 on the 8th June 1912, he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 12th June.
His father remarried on the 6th September 1919 in Camberwell, his 2nd wife was Clara Elizabeth Hayward. They had 2 sons.
His brother James was an Electrician, he married in 1933 and died in 1971 (death registered in Hillingdon).
Willie Edward Leggett died on the 12th June 1949 (death registered in Bromley Kent).
