The articles below contain information about Muriel Evelyn Seward.
Muriel Evelyn Seward (1928 – 1929)
Frederick David Seward was born on 18 September 1891 in Newbury, the son of Samuel and Jane, nee North, Seward. He married Eveline Kate Holman in 1912 in Reading. Eveline was born on 18 December 1884 in Southampton.
Frederick was recorded as joining the united society of boilermakers and iron ship builders on 17 February 1915 in Birkenhead. It seems likely that was in connection with WW1.
Frederick and Eveline had 4 children, Kenneth Frederick born 1913 in Newbury, Alan Douglas born 5 January 1916 in Birkenhead, David Leslie born 18 September 1919 in Newbury and Muriel Evelyn born 29 April 1928 in Andover.
Sadly, Muriel Evelyn died on 28 May 1929 at the Royal Berks Hospital in Reading aged only 12 months. She was buried in Newtown Road Cemetery on 31 May.
Muriel’s brothers all served in the Royal Artillery in WW2. Kenneth Frederick died on 11 May 1945 in Malaysia while serving as a gunner.
Frederick and Eveline continued to live in Newbury, in 1939 they were living and working at 39 Cheap Street in Newbury. Frederick was a master baker and confectioner and Eveline was assisting in the shop.
Frederick died in 1976 in Newbury and Eveline two years later on 6 March 1978 while living at Enborne Grange in Newbury.
