MARY BURROUGH

THE LATE MISS MARY BURROUGH
It is with sincere regret that we record the passing away of this lady last Saturday morning. Miss Burrough has been connected with the town since about the year 1850, when, in conjunction with the late Mrs. Burrough and her sisters, a ladies school was for many years carried on by them in Northbrook-street.
On relinquishing this, Miss Burrough has since resided in Donnington-square. She was for many years treasurer of the Girls' British or Lancastrian School and was vice-president of the Women's Liberal Association, while in connection with the Congregational Church, she was in former years an active worker in the Sunday School, and until recently the manager of the Ladies Dorcas Society. Of shrewd judgment, yet of kindly disposition, Miss Burrough was held in high esteem by a wide circle of personal friends, by whom her memory will long be cherished

The body was removed from Horris Bank to Olney Bridge, Donnington-square, her residence, on Monday evening. The funeral took place on Wednesday, the first part of the service being at Olney Lodge, and was conducted by the Rev. P.W. Clarke. The remains were then conveyed on glass Washington car to the Cemetery, where the committal portion of the service was taken by the Rev. FW. Clarke.
The polished coffin bore the inscription -MARY BURROUGH, DIED OCT 8 1910 Aged 81.

The mourners were Miss Margaret Burrough and Mrs. W.T. Shaw (sisters), Mr. Saville Burrough, Mr. Herbert Burrough, and Mr. Francis Henry Burrough (nephews), Sir John Rotten, Bart.(cousin), Mr. Mullings, Miss Tyrell, Dr Parsons (medical attendant), Miss Hill, Mr. Farrer, Miss Lydia. There were no flowers by request.
