                                    Arthur Leonard Collins (1894 – 1910)

 

Arthur Leonard Collins was born in 1894 in Thatcham, the son of Joseph and Annie, nee Crook, Collins. Joseph and Annie had married earlier in 1894.

 

In the 1901 census Arthur was living in Cold Ash with his parents and sister Priscilla Louisa aged 3. His father Joseph was a cattleman on a farm.

 

Arthur died in July 1910 at the Isolation Hospital aged only 15. He was buried at Newtown Road Cemetery on 22 July 1910.

 

Joseph and Annie continued to live in the district, they were recorded in Cold Ash in the 1911 census and Trash Green, Burghfield in 1921. Joseph died in 1937 and was buried at St Mary in Burghfield on 23 September 1937. Annie was still living in Trash Green in September 1939 when the national register was compiled. She died in the Royal Berks Hospital in 1958 and was buried at St Mary in Burghfield on 2 January 1959.
