William Charles Swatton
1909-1910
William was born in Newbury the son of Charles George (aka George) and Elizabeth Ann Swatton (nee Knight) who married in Newbury in 1908.
His father Charles was born on the 14th August 1887 (surname recorded as Swadden on birth registration) the son of Charles William and Elizabeth Swatton (nee Pearce). His mother Elizabeth Ann was born on the 20th November 1887 the daughter of George William and Mary Ann Knight (nee Malyon). Both were born in Greenham Berkshire.
Charles and Elizabeth also had three other sons, Francis Edward born in 1913 (died 1913), Salonika George born in 1916 (died 1989) and Frederick William born in 1924
William Charles died aged 10 months on the 11th May 1910 he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 14th May.
The 1911 census records Charles and Elizabeth living at 5 Blanchard Cottages, Kiln Road, Newbury, Charles was recorded as a Brick Yard General Labourer. By 1920 the family were living at 4 Alexandra Cottages Donnington Berkshire.
The 1939 register also records Charles, Elizabeth and Salonika living at 4 Alexandra Cottages, Charles was recorded as a Gasworks General Labourer and Salonika was recorded as a Furniture Assembler.
Charles and Elizabeth both died aged 76 in Newbury in 1964.
