Henry Hill (1872 — 1909)

Henry Hill (1872 — 1909)
Henry Hill was born in Newbury in 1872 the son of Henry and Sarah, nee Pocock, Hill. When his birth was registered he was Henry William Hill but it appears he never used the second name of William.
Henry's father Henry died 1 October 1879 and he was buried at Newtown Road Cemetery on 4 October 1879.
Henry's mother Sarah remarried in Newbury in 1881 to Fred Church.
A few weeks after the marriage in the 1881 census Henry was recorded with Fred and Sarah living in Northbrook Place in Newbury with his brother John aged 4. Fred was recorded as a shoeing smith.
Ten years later in the 1891 census Henry was recorded with Fred and Sarah living in Donnington with his brother John plus four children of Fred and Sarah, Fred aged 9, Edith aged 7, Annie aged 5 and Florence aged 3. Fred senior was still a shoeing smith.
In the 1901 census Henry was recorded living as a boarder with Henry Fisher and his family in St Mary Bourne in Hampshire and his occupation was a groom.
Henry died July 1909 and he was buried at Newtown Road Cemetery on 23 July 1909. He was recorded as living at 20 West Street in Newbury which was the address of his mother Sarah and stepfather Fred from the 1901 census onwards. His age on death was recorded as 35 although his 36th birthday was in late 1908.

Henry's mother Sarah Church was buried at Newtown Road Cemetery on 13 October 1915 while still living at 20 West Street in Newbury.
Henry also had an older brother also named Henry who was one day old when he died and was buried at Newtown Road Cemetery on 2 May 1871.
