John Frederick Bellinger
1907-1909
John Frederick was born in Newbury, the son of John and Phoebe Bellinger (nee Pocock) who were married in 1907 (marriage registered in Newbury).
His father John was born in Newbury in 1884, the son of George and Elizabeth Bellinger (nee Wright) who married in Newbury in 1879.
His mother Phoebe was born on the 18th April 1886 in Newbury.
John and Phoebe also had a daughter Evelyn Maud born in 1909 in Newbury.
John Frederick died aged 17 months in 1909, he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 17th February. At the time of his death the family were living at 2 Kennet Road, Newbury.
The 1911 census records his parents and sister living in Ashton Court, Bartholomew Street, Newbury, John was recorded as an Engineer’s Labourer (Ironworks).
His father joined the Army (Royal Berkshire Regiment 1st Bn) as a private in 1915. Sadly he was killed in action on the 28th September 1915.
Phoebe remarried in 1933, her 2nd husband was Jack Pretoria Bloemfontein Davis (16 years her junior).
The 1939 register records Phoebe and Jack living in Ashton Court, Bartholomew Street. Jack was recorded as a GPO Engineer.
Phoebe died aged 64 in 1951 (death registered in Newbury).
Jack died aged 94 in 1996 in West Berkshire
