HENRY HOLLANDS

Born March 26th 1864

Died January 3rd 1908

The funeral of the late Mr Henry Hollands, of Bankside, Greenham Mills, took place on Wednesday (yesterday) at the Newbury Cemetery, amid a large concourse of relatives, friends and fellow tradesmen of the town.  The remains were enclosed in a handsome, french-polished coffin, furnished with massive brass handles and shield, name-plate on which was inscribed the following inscription:

HENRY HOLLANDS

The cortege left deceased’s residence at 2.30. The coffin containing the remains, in a glass Washington car, was completely covered with wreaths, crosses, and other beautiful floral offerings from friends.  The carriages – containing the widow and young son, Mr and Mrs Alfred Hollands, Mr and Mrs Duke, Mr Osgood, and Mr Boustred (solicitor) – were met at the entrance to the chapel by the Rev. Amongst the many friends who were also at the Cemetery and surrounding the graveside were noticed:  Canon Scannell, Mr Arthur Attewell, the Misses Draper, Mr and Mrs W R Davey, Mr C W Burns, Mr R F Wilson (Speenhamland), Mr G H Huson, Mr Walter Bell, Mr E Turner, Mr T H Liddiard, Mrs Freemantle, Mr Walter Midwinter, Mr W G New, Miss Corneby, Miss Newton, Miss Gale, Mr Hy Langford, Mr Budd (Shaw), Mr Pocock, several of the clerks and employees, and many others.

We append a list of those sending wreaths and other floral offerings, which were very handsome:  Wife and son, Alf and Hetty, Dorothy, Arthur and Madeline, Very Rev.Canon Scannell, Mr T H Liddiard, Mr and Mrs A Attewell, Mr and Mrs Smith and Violet (East Sheen), Mr and Mrs A C Pemberton (Rickmansworth), Mr and Mrs J N Day, Mr and Mrs Anderson (Teddington), Master G Ravenor, Mr and Mrs W F Porter, Mr and Mrs W R Davey and Mrs Langridge, Mrs Guyer, Nurse friend, Henry, Miss Corneby, Mr and Mrs Holyman, Mrs and Miss Duck, Mr H Boustred (Highgate), Mrs Church and Mrs Booth.
