Sarah Draper
1830-1907
Sarah Bristow was born on 18th May 1830 she was baptised on the 26th May 1830 in Peterborough Northampton and was the daughter of John & Jane Bristow (nee Smart) who were married in the parish church of St Margaret Fletten Huntingdonshire on 15th October 1818.

The 1841 census records Jane Bristow (40), Schoolmistress, George (20), Painter, Jane (13), Sarah (11) and Hannah (9), living in Cumbergate (in the parish of St John the Baptist) Northamptionshire
Sarah married Edward Draper in 1859 by licence

After they were married they moved to Heckington Lincolnshire (The Railway Hotel South Street) where Edward worked as a Licenced Victualler and Merchant. Sarah gave birth to a son, George Edward in 1860 and a daughter, Sarah Jane in 1861 while living in Lincolnshire. The family moved to Berkshire (Reading) and whilst living in Reading Sarah gave birth to three more children, a daughter Clara Jessie in 1863 and two sons Fred Herbert 1865 and Arthur 1867. By 1869 the family were living in Newbury where Sarah gave birth to her youngest child. Florence born c1869
Edward and Sarah’s son Fred Herbert died aged 4 in 1869 and was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 9th October 1869
A few weeks after Fred’s death Sarah became a widow, her husband Edward died aged 34 he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 11th November1869.
The following year Sarah’s daughter Florence died aged 1 she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 2nd June 1870 then in 1877 Sarah’s son Arthur died aged 9, he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 27th March 1877
After her husband’s death Sarah worked as a Goods Agent for G W R she was recorded living in Newbury, St Mary’s Hill (1871), Cheap Street (1881) and Lincoln House Queens Road (1891 and 1901) she died aged 77 on the 5th September 1907 and was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 10th September.
