Albert Stanley Barber
1906-1906
Arthur William Barber married Edith Palmer in 1898 in the Newbury area and they had the following children who were all born in Newbury:
Edith born 1898-1898 William Henry Charles 1900-1918 Cissy Elizabeth 1902 Twins, Albert Stanley & Dorothy 1906-1906 Elsie Mary 1912
Edith died shortly after she was born and was laid to rest on the 21st April 1898 in the Newtown Road Cemetery.
In 1901 the family were recorded living at 3 Chestnut Court Newbury and Arthur was working as an Upholsterer’s Porter.
On the 28th September 1906 Edith gave birth to twins, Albert Stanley & Dorothy. Dorothy was baptised on 12th October 1906 at St Nicolas Church Newbury (as Dorothy Louisa), the family were living at 2 Bartholomew Place Newbury. Dorothy died aged 18 days. She was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on 19th October 1906. Albert Stanley was baptised at St Nicolas Church 3 days after Dorothy’s burial, he died aged 1 month and was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 1st November 1906
In 1925 Arthur’s wife Edith (aged 49) died in Newbury and the following year Arthur married again, his second wife was a widow, Eleanor Wheeler (formerly Welch), they had four children: Arthur William born 1926, Ernest Noble born 1929, James Henry born 1933 and Jean Margaret 1935.
Arthur William Barber died aged 89 in 1963 in Newbury.
Eleanor Barber died aged 90 in 1983 in Newbury.
