The articles below contain information about Prudence Soper.
Prudence Soper
She was born Prudence Willis c. 1823/4 in Bucklebury. Her parents could have been William Willis and Hannah, nee Tull, but this requires verification. She married Daniel Soper in 1844. The marriage was registered in Kinsgclere, Hampshire. They had seven children. After her husband's death in 1882, she continued to run the greengrocer and game dealership at 109 Bartholomew Street (ref. 1887 Kelly's Directory). Census records show that she lived at 7 Kimbers Almshouses in 1891 and 1901, a widow and almswoman. She died aged 82 years on 17 January 1906 and she was taken from 109 Bartholomew Street and buried on 23 January 1906 in the same consecrated grave as her husband Daniel and daughter Alice Soper.
Her third daughter Ellen married her first husband Thomas Weston, a Carriage Painter, in 1887 and they took over the business at 109 Bartholomew Street. He died in 1897 and she later married Stephen Richard Parr, a Wheelwright/Axletree Maker and Builder in 1899 and together they continued the greengrocer business at the same address.
