Transciption: | CHARLOTTE HUGHES THE LATE Mrs. HUGHES The death took place on Friday, of Mrs. Hughes, wife of Mr. Samuel Hughes, of the “Eight Bells" Inn, Bartholomew-street, after a long and painful illness. She was respected by all who came in contact with her during the 19 years she had lived at the "Eight Bells." Before this she and her husband had the care of the St. John's Schoolroom, in the time of the Rev. H. T. Morgan. The funeral took place at the Cemetery, on Monday, and was attended by numerous friends, also representatives of the Newbury Brewery Company and the Licensed Victuallers’ Association. Wreaths were sent from her loving husband, brother and sisters, nephew, and a few old and respected friends, and one from Charlotte. Mr. Hart was the undertaker.
