Elizabeth Bulpit
c1834-1904
Elizabeth Edwards was born in Hampstead Marshall Berkshire she was baptised on the 30th March 1834 in Hampstead Marshall the daughter of Anthony and Jane Edwards (nee Marshall) who were married on the 28th April 1833 in Hampstead Marshall. Anthony was born c1811 in Kintbury and was an Agricultural Labourer. Jane was born c1805 in Kintbury.
Anthony and Jane also had the following children:
Ellen born c 1836 in Denford baptised 17th July 1836 in Hampstead Marshall
Alfred born 1837 in Kintbury
Josiah born 1839 in Kintbury
Jane born 1841 in Kintbury
Eliza born 1844 in Kintbury
Anthony born 1846 in Kintbury
In 1841 Elizabeth (7) was recorded living in the hamlet of Denford (in the parish of Kintbury) Berkshire with her father Anthony (30), her mother Jane (35), and her siblings Ellen (5), Alfred (3) and Josiah (2).
The 1851 census records Elizabeth (17), living in Kintbury with her father Anthony (40) and her siblings Josiah (12), Jane (10), Eliza (8) and Anthony (5). Alfred (13) was working as a Plough Boy at Park Farm Hungerford for a James Batt (73), a Farmer. Ellen (14) was working as a House Servant in Hungerford and her mother Jane (46) was visiting her married sister Sarah Harper (47) and her family in Newtown (Thatcham ) Berkshire.

Elizabeth had the following children, all birth registrations record the mother’s maiden name as Edwards, some of the baptism records record the father as George but Charles’ baptism record in 1856 records his father as William:
Lydia born 1853 birth registered in Hungerford baptised 2nd October 1853 in Kintbury (parents Elizabeth and George Bulpit, a Labourer)
Charles born 1856 birth registered in Newbury (baptised Charles Alfred in Boxford in 1856 parents William and Elizabeth)
John born 1859 birth registered in Newbury
Eliza born c1862 birth registered in Andover (John and Eliza (baptised as Eliza Elizabeth) baptised together on the 6th April 1862 in Vernham Dean parents Elizabeth and George Bulpett)
George Anthony born 1865 birth registered in Newbury (died aged 11 months buried 14th January 1866 in Boxford St Andrew)
Emily born c1867 birth registered in Bradfield baptised 27th March 1870 in Bradfield (parents recorded as Elizabeth and George T Bullpit)
Tom born c1870 birth registered in Bradfield (baptised in 1870 with Emily)
Eliza born 1874 birth registered in Bradfield (died aged 3 in 1877 buried 28th July at St Denys Stanford Dingley)
Hannah born 1877 birth registered in Bradfield
In all census records from 1861 -1901 Elizabeth’s husband is recorded as William born in Overton Hampshire. (possible baptism: William Bulpit , 15th January 1826 in Overton Hampshire the son of George and Lydia Bulpit (nee Miles) who were married in Kingsclere Hampshire in 1825)
William was recorded as a Shepherd in all census records.
The 1861 census records William (36), Elizabeth (27), Charles (4) and John (1), living in Hurstbourne Tarrant Hampshire. Their daughter Lydia (7) was recorded living with her grandparents Anthony and Jane Edwards, in Wood End Green Hayes Middlesex.
The 1871 census records William (43), Elizabeth (36), Charles (14), an Agricultural Labourer, John (11), a Shepherd, Emily (4) and Tom (1) living at Mappletons Bradfield Berkshire.
In 1881 William (54), Elizabeth (46), Charles (24), a Farm Servant, Emily (14), Tom (11) and Hannah (3) were living in Cox Sands Cottage Stanford Dingley Berkshire.
The 1891 census records William (61), Elizabeth (55) and their grandson, Edward (3), living in Pound Lane Thatcham. (Surname recorded as Bulfit on ancestry). By 1901 they had moved to Hollington Lane East Woolton Hill Hampshire.
Elizabeth died aged 67 on the 9th May 1904 she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 12th May.
William died aged 78 in 1908 (death registered in Newbury)
