Transciption: | ANN ALLEN SUDDEN DEATH AT NEWBURY An inquest was held on Tuesday night, at the Police Court before Dr Watson, j.p., Coroner, on the body of Mrs. Ann Allen, aged 75 years, who lived in the houses by the goods yard, known as Railway Cottages. She had been a widow for 12 years, and during that time had resided practically alone. On Tuesday morning as she did not get about as usual, the neighbours became alarmed, the house was forced, and Mrs. Allen was found dead by her bedside. Evidence was given by Mrs. Sarah Pilgrim, sister of the deceased, living at Castle-street, Reading, Mrs. Walker, a neighbour, Sergt. Maunders, and Dr. Hickman. The latter said that he had attended the deceased professionally for a weak heart. His opinion was that in getting out of bed she fainted, and falling on her face was suffocated.
The verdict of the jury was "Death from Natural Causes."
