A number of floral offerings were sent by sympathising friends, the one from the G.W.R. Staff being very beautiful. Amongst those contributing were “The sorrowing Husband and children”, Fred and Nancy, Lizzie and the children Elsie, Frank and Daisy, Stella, Alice, George and Marie, Mrs. Watson, Mrs. Taylor (Midgham) Miss Skinner, Bob and Rose, Miss Newman, Miss Duck, British Women Committee, Miss F. Prill, Mr. and Mrs. Pyke, Mr. and Mrs. Mark, Mr. and Mrs. Marsmand, Mr. and Mrs. J. Kite (Twyford), Mr. and Mrs. E. Gould, Mr. and Mrs. Spragg and family, Miss Midwinter and Mrs. E.J. Forster, Mr. and Mrs. A Gawthorn, Mr. J.B. Taylor, jun., G.W.R. Staff, Newbury Station, Nell, Kate and Nan, Aunt Carrie, Harry and Mollie, Mr. and Mrs. F.J. Cambridge, G.W.R. staff.
The arrangements were carried out by Mr. Charles W. Adey, of West Mills. Also : Stella Higgs was born in 1857 and before her marriage to George Kenerrick North she lived with her family in 9 Swindon Street, Highworth, Wiltshire where her father was employed as a general storekeeper. By the time of her marriage on 25th October 1881, she had qualified as a school mistress. She had 3 children –

THE LATE MRS. NORTH - The death took place on Friday of Mrs. North, wife of Mr. G. K. North, station-master, for whom and his family the greatest sympathy is felt. The funeral took place yesterday (Tuesday) afternoon, at the Cemetery. The coffin was borne to the grave by railway porters in their new uniforms, Inspector Gawthorne, superintending the arrangements. The mourners were Mr. G. K. North (husband), Misses North and Mr. G. K. C. North, (children); Mrs. S.P. Morris (sister), Mr. R Higgs, (brother), Miss Marie North (niece), Mr. C. Maslin, (uncle), Mrs. L. Easley (cousin) Mr. F. North, Mr. S. P Morris, (brothers-in-law) The G. W. R . staff were represented by Mr. E. P. James, divisional superintendent's office, Reading ; Mr. F. J. C. Cambridge, Permanent Way Inspector ; Mr. G. Marks, chief goods clerk ; Mr. G. P. Pyke, booking clerk ; Mr J. R. C. Williams, and Mr. T. Blea, goods clerks ; Mr. T. Marchment, bookstall. The coffin was of oak, with brass furniture, inscribed :
STELLA NORTH. DIED JUNE 20th, 1902, Aged 45 years.
