THE LATE MRS. DOLTON
The funeral of the late Mrs. Dolton, of Kendrick House, took place on Friday afternoon at the Cemetery and there was a large gathering of friends to show their sympathy and respect towards the members of the family which has been so long and honourably identified with the town.
The deceased lady had been in failing health for some years, but since the death of her husband, Alderman Dolton, J.P., she has been more or less an invalid. The Wedslyan body was largely represented at the funeral, Mrs. Dolton having always been a liberal supporter of the various institutions connected with that church.
The burial service was conducted by the Rev. J. Crawshaw, superintendent minister, assisted by the Rev. H.H. Killip. During the service and at the graveside were sung “There is a land of pure delight,” and “Give me the wings of faith to rise.”
The mourners were Mr. C.H. Dolton (son), Mrs. C. W. Early, Mrs. J.C. Fidler, Miss Dolton, Miss Edith Dolton (daughters, Mrs. C.H. Dolton (daughter-in-law),Miss Thomas (niece), Mr. C. W. Early (son-in-law), Messrs. H.S. Dolton, C.R. Dolton, H. Fidler and Douglas Fidler (grandsons). Among those present in the chapel and around the grave were Mr. J. Webb, Mr. and Mrs. C. Webb, Mr. and Mrs. B. Freeman, Mr. A. Freeman, Mr. A. Attewell, Mr., Mrs. and Miss Hill, Mr. J. B.Webb, Mr. T. Garlick, Mr Righton, Mr. and Mrs Woodger, Mr. Penford, Miss Fidler, Miss Butler, Miss Midwinter, Mrs Herbert, Mr. and Miss North, Mr. E.L. Staples, Mrs. Siney, Mr. and Mrs. Turner, Miss Mason, Mrs. Crawshaw, Miss Heath, and Mrs. C. Attewell.
The interment took place in the family vault, the coffin being of polished and panelled oak, with inscription:-
