Alfred Dalmon

Alfred was born in Rotherwick Hampshire, the son of William and Eliza Dalmon (nee Boshire) who were married in 1837 in Rotherwick. From the age of 3 Alfred was deaf and dumb.
Alfred’s father William worked as an Agricultural Labourer. He was baptised on the 12th August 1803 in Mapledurwell, Hampshire, the son of Henry and Ann Dalmon. William died aged 71 in 1876 in Hampshire.
His mother Eliza was baptised on the 18th February 1818 in Rotherwick, the daughter of John and Harriot Boshier. Eliza died aged 47 in 1865 in Hampshire.
William and Eliza also had the following children:

The 1841 census records Alfred (1) living in Rotherwick Street, Rotherwick, with his parents William (30) and Eliza (20) and his brother George (3).
In 1851 Alfred (11) was recorded as a Pupil at a Deaf and Dumb Asylum in Kent Road, St George, Southwark, Surrey.
By 1861 he was back living with his parents and siblings in Rotherwick Street and was working as an Agricultural Labourer.
The 1871 census records Alfred (30) as a Casual Pauper/Farm Labourer in the Union Workhouse in Farnham Surrey
In 1891 Alfred (51) was recorded as a Pauper in the Hartley Wintney Workhouse, in Hampshire.
Alfred died aged 60 in 1901 in the Newbury Workhouse, he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 6th June.
