Anne (Annie) Taylor
Anne/Annie Taylor
1899-1901
Annie Taylor has been mistakenly recorded Anne in the burial records (birth and death, registered as Annie Taylor). Annie was born in Newbury the daughter of Francis William and Lucy Eliza Taylor (formerly Brindley, nee Smith).
Annie’s mother:
Lucy Eliza Smith was born in 1860 in either Buttermere or Vernham Dean Hampshire, the daughter of George and Ann Smith (nee Lancely) who were married in 1852 in Hampshire. Lucy married Alfred Brindley, a Coachman, in Newbury in 1881 and they had four children, Charles born c1883, Samuel George born 1888, Charlotte born 1890 and Alfred born c1893.
Alfred died aged 40 in 1895 and Lucy married Annie’s father in Newbury two years later.
Annie’s father:
Francis William Taylor was born in Ecchinswell Hampshire in 1874 the son of Edward James and Sarah Ann Taylor (nee King) who were married in 1872 in Hampshire. His mother died aged 22 in 1877 and his father remarried in 1879 his 2nd wife was Jane Louisa Jackson.
Annie’s siblings were:

Nora Ann born 1901
Edward Alfred born 1904
In 1901 Annie’s mother Lucy (36), her half siblings Samuel (13), Charlotte (10) and Alfred (8) and her sister Frances Maud (3) were living in Adey’s Buildings Newbury. Annie (1) was recorded as a patient in the Newbury District Hospital.
Annie died aged 17 months in 1901 she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 13th April as Anne Taylor.
The 1911 census records her father Francis (36), as a General Labourer, living at 9 Adey’s Buildings York Road Newbury with her mother Lucy (48), her sisters Frances Maud (12) and Nora Ann (9), her brother Edward Alfred (6), her half-sister Charlotte (20), a Laundry Machinist and a boarder.
Her dad Francis died aged 38 on the 15th June 1913 he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 18th June.
Her mum Lucy died aged 72 on the 20th July 1933 she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 24th July
