A SAD BEREAVEMENT
On Friday night a man named Swain, living in a cottage near the National Schools, Enbourn-road, died suddenly under most distressing circumstances. He had been in his usualhealth during the day, and retired to rest about ten o'clock. At midnight his wife, who on Wednesday had given birth to her third child, called her husband, and receiving no answer, was terribly shocked to find him dead by her side. The poor woman raised her neighbours as best she could, and they had to force their way in, but the man was quite cold. Heart failure was the cause of his sudden decease, and the doctor being able to certify this, there was no necessity for an inquest. The deceased was a Reservist but had been discharged on account of his weak heart. The bereaved woman is left in deep distress, and a fund has been started for the relief of herself and family, by Mr. George Boyer, in whose employ the man had been for some months. Any donations to this deserving object would be thankfully received by Messrs Boyer or at either of the local banks.
